Inside the Escape Room Experience
The event was set up in the late evening. After office hours, team was organized to reach the venue.
This is a 2 hour event and we were 10 participants
Instructor Mohamed briefed up about the rules of the game.
1.There was certain sign marked as Do not touch. If one happens to do, there would be a small punishment he mentioned.
2.He gave team a Phone wherein we could ask any number of clues whenever we are stuck.
3.We could not take any of our bags or personal phone inside the escape rooms. I managed to take a pen and paper only .
4. There was a lock which sets in certain pattern only and each room we had to unlock these keys
5. After the basic rules, we stepped in the First Room
Overview- here I am starting my experience in Room 1 out of the 5 rooms we will eventually enter.
Room 1 was a small 4 by 4 room painted in Orange.As we entered , there played a video where a boy who seemed a bit pycho is asking for help. He seems alone, scarry and lost in thought. So this is a game to unlock the codes and release him. The orange room had this Tv where the video was played, There was a book shelf. Also the room was placed with some objects like a skeleton , a vase, a chair which had a number coded in them.There was a sofa , tea poy as well. So initially as we entered we saw a painting in the wall right behind the tv.
we found few pieces of puzzles when tried to arrange them , it gave a mirror image except that a arrow mark was indicated in puzzle. This meant the painting if moved to this arrow direction, there was a lock.Now the challenge was to decode the lock. We received a hint that the pycho guy liked to place the books based on the wall decor. There was a magazine which had numbers in it. There were books with numbers and many more. It was hard to find the 5 digit numbers. Team tried to add them each time. Or decoding based on colors etc.
Decoding Room 1- So the book contained pages with Highlighted text, The page number represented codes written behind the objects.And each word of the highlighted page if added made a 5 letter word. And the term was 'ALONE '. So A=1, B=2.This way we decoded the lock and via a small half door entered Room 2.
Take away- Think out of the box
Room 2 was bright . It had few light bulbs placed . There was pycho guys letter , stamps of different coutries.There was a showcase which had sovereign of different country like Dubai, New york, Paris. Pisa,Rome. The letter read that the guy's mother collected stamps and we were decoding the lock. This time there are 10 keys to be used and this is based on direction of stars . .Name of places were based on the stamps that was placed in a particular series.These stars were visible when the lights were switched off. There was a puzzle which mentioned phrases like' North west is the new north". Based on direction code was built up yet we had to take help of clue finally to crack the exact code.And basically what happened was the light bulb came down and there was a key to go to Room 3.
Take away- Sometimes Logic doesnt work.In life too we have to accept certain things even if we are not convinced why its happening .
Room 3-We had to climb the room to reach a space which looked like a Bed room.There was a bed, A flower pot beside the bed. A treasure box next to the bed. There were 4 different images of this pycho guy ( One confused, smiling, sad and angry in series ). There was a small table beside the bed which had some anti-depressent tablets with a prescription. It read the number of tablets to be taken based on mood which formed the 4 digit key. Example - No medication when happier meant the code is 0 for it since no pill is needed.The treasure box when unlocked had few water bottles inside it as well as a water pot.The water pot when poured over the flower vase the bed pushed itself magically behind and there was a hole passage beside the bed.There was a alternative way too but the bench were we would keep out feet was not very strong .
Take away-cant trust the floor below the feet. We need to trust on our abilities.
Room 4-This was like a vertical passage which had few dices attached in wall, A ball in the small box.This was unlocked by decoding using the color of bulb as base- Example- Green meant 5 , Red meant 3 etc. This ball had to be passed through holes upwards to get a key which lead us to Room 5.
Room 5-Crawling inside the room to reach the area which looked like washroom.Area was filled with Joker masks, The blood stain in the ground made me scary. The sink had a attached mirror which had things written in red . There was a cupboard too . An envelop placed directed us to open the cupboard and there was a red eyed mask . One could read clue only by wearing this mask. When I rushed to open the box , there was a punching toy which would directly hit bad if not cautiously opened.And there was 2 minutes left for the two hours to be completed to decode the word which would set the pycho free.The task was to use pla-cards to build a word in Mirror. And somehow it was a task to decode this term.
There was a haunting voice following towards us in room.And based on hint it was decoded that the word is 'ALONE " that will set him free. In 30 seconds team managed to go through all passages to come out of the Escape room.
Take away- To see things clearly , we need to wear the specs . To know a true personality of a person we should have the knack to unmask and see.
Well, we were successful in escaping the rooms and decoding the term 'ALONE " which surprisingly was a part of clue in each room.
we had delicious fruit cake dessert, Pizzas and soft drinks in the open roof area sitting in swings.
This is indeed one of the most unique experiences I had. These are once in a lifetime experience and hence documenting my interesting experience .
